| Courthouse Silk Banners — Permanent Installation It is a true honor to announce that on June 4, 2009, the Courthouse is hosting a reception to welcome the permanent display of the BATS Silk-painting wall hangings! This project has been a year-long endeavor, and we want to thank Addie Chernus, award-winning silk artist and teacher, for her help with teaching silk painting to the students. Thanks to Wendy David of CASA, Judge Kingsbury, the staff at the Courthouse, and funding from the El Dorado Community Foundation, for their vision and support for this project. These Silk Wall Hangings represent the artwork of a selected class from each of the five elementary schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. More than 100 students partook in this exciting project. This project has caused quite an interest in other classes, therefore, we have added silk painting to our curriculum and will make it available to all 4th and 5th grade classes beginning the next school year! For those teachers reading this, please contact your school's Lead Volunteer to sign up. Be sure to stop by the Courthouse to see all of the wall hangings. Here are a few of them; enjoy Tahoe's finest example of creativity!
